Real-Time Barrier Function Measurements for Perfused Epithelia

64 chips in parallel, membrane-free, non-invasive, under flow conditions.

The OrganoTEER® device measures trans-epithelial electrical resistance (TEER) of perfused tubular epithelia in the OrganoPlate® platform.

It enables real-time, high-throughput assessment of barrier function without dyes, manual handling, or artificial membranes, and supports both single measurements and time-lapse acquisition.

Quantitative Insights into Barrier Integrity

The OrganoTEER® device enables fast, impedance-based measurement of barrier integrity in epithelial tubules and endothelial vessels. Built for use in incubators and under perfusion, it measures up to 64 chips in under a minute and delivers quantitative data to track barrier function in real time.

Predict dose-dependent toxicity

Monitor responses to drugs and detect dose-dependent barrier disruption in in vitro models of gut, blood-brain barrier, kidney, and more. Evaluate barrier damage over time under continuous perfusion.

Assess inflammatory responses

Measure TEER changes in response to cytokines or immune triggers in real time. Track acute or chronic barrier effects under physiologically relevant conditions.

Evaluate the barrier response to food ingredients

Study the impact of dietary compounds on barrier integrity of gut epithelium. Time-lapse acquisition under flow enables monitoring of subtle and transient effects.

QC the barrier function of your model

Use TEER to assess reproducibility, robustness, and baseline barrier performance before screening. Perform non-invasive measurements in high throughput.

“The OrganoPlate® platform with the OrganoTEER® device will become a standardized assay in our early investigative toxicology drug screening workflow. With the OrganoPlate® platform, we see a reproducible early screen for intestinal toxicity, and the first example internally of an advanced cell model being implemented into routine testing.‍

To date, the OrganoReady® Caco-2 model is for us, at Merck, the most suitable platform offering at the same time scalability, speed, robustness, ease of handling, with low compound needs.”
