OrganoReady® Colon Caco-2

OrganoReady® Colon Caco-2 is a ready-to-use in vitro intestinal model comprised of perfusable, leak-tight Caco-2 tubules. These tubules feature apical and basolateral access without the use of artificial membranes and develop a functional barrier enabling direct compound exposure, sampling, and reliable high-throughput intestinal barrier assessment and gastrointestinal toxicity (GI) screening.

Specifications

Each OrganoReady Caco-2 comes pre-seeded with 40 or 64 ready-to-use Caco-2 tubules grown against validated Collagen-I with stable barriers.

Cell Type: Caco-2
Format: OrganoPlate® 3-lane 64 or 40
Configuration: Caco-2 tubules against Collagen-I

Applications

The OrganoReady Colon Caco-2 model offers a standardized in vitro gut model that supports consistent and reproducible assay conditions across applications. All applications benefit from our OrganoTEER system for barrier function measurement.

Validation

The OrganoReady Colon Caco-2 model demonstrates characteristics of a polarized and differentiated intestinal epithelium. The model features asymmetric localization of key transporters and markers, reflecting functional apical–basolateral polarity.

Colorful thermal imaging of elongated object with vibrant heat distribution
The Caco-2 model shows lumen formation and confirms the 3D architecture of the epithelial tubules
Colorful microscopic view of cells with blue nuclei and green-red networks
The Caco-2 tubules show differentiated phenotype (ZO-1, Occludin and Acetylated Tubulin)
Colorful microscopic view of cellular structures with vibrant interconnected patterns
The Caco-2 tubules show Apical (Ezrin and MRP) and Basolateral (Glut2) polarized epithelium

Enterotoxin Screening in Caco-2 Tubules

A high-throughput gut-on-chip platform to study the epithelial responses to enterotoxins: This publication demonstrates how a Caco-2 tubule model enables high-throughput, multiparametric assessment of enterotoxin-induced epithelial damage, offering improved sensitivity and translatability over conventional intestinal models.
