OrganoReady® Colon Caco-2

40 or 64 ready-to-use Caco-2 tubules to assess gut permeability, compound toxicity, and transport.

Do you want to perform experiments in human-relevant, complex 3D tissue models but don’t have the time or experience to build your own? Look no further, with the OrganoReady Colon Caco-2 you can now easily take your intestinal research to the next level. Perform your self-created experiments to investigate permeability, absorption and transport, toxicity, and barrier integrity (TEER) in a physiologically relevant model.

OrganoReady® Colon Caco-2 features:

  • OrganoPlate® 3-lane 40 or 3-lane 64, including:
    • 40 or 64 chips with ready-to-use Caco-2 tubules
  • Direct access to the apical and basal lumen of tubules
  • Caco-2 cell line: Human Caucasian colon adenocarcinoma, Wild-Type
  • ECM: Collagen I (Rat Tail)

Each tissue culture chip contains one in-gel culture channel and two perfusion channels, of which one perfused Caco-2 tubule. Compounds and stimuli can directly be added from the apical and basolateral sides of the culture. With this direct access, the platform enables perfusion and supports various barrier function and transport assays.

Meet the OrganoReady Colon Caco-2

Ready-to-assay gut tubules
38 ready-to-use Caco-2 tubules, seeded against collagen I, allowing you to perform assays right away.

We create the model, so you can focus on your assays
Preparation and QC of OrganoReady Caco-2 are done by our experts. Use the OrganoReady Colon Caco-2 directly after arrival for up to 7 days.

Get inspired by a wide range of possible applications
Study for example (drug-induced) toxicity, transport, use it for disease modeling or for fundamental research on the intestinal barrier.

Apical and basal access
Perfused Caco-2 tubules, allowing barrier integrity (TEER), transporter (e.g. P-gp), and permeability assays.

No artificial membranes for free migration, invasion, and exchanges of factors
Unique PhaseGuide™ technology allows cells to interact and migrate freely between channels.

OrganoReady Caco-2:
how it works

The Caco-2 tubules allow for apical and basal access, enabling barrier integrity and transport assays. The model lends itself to study toxicity, transport, and disease or can be used for fundamental research on the intestinal barrier.

Here we show an example of the Caco-2 intestinal tubule grown against an extracellular matrix (ECM). The tubule shows clear lumen and the arrows indicate the apical and basal sides of the culture.
