The blood-brain barrier (BBB) ensures a homeostatic environment for the central nervous system (CNS) and is essential for brain function. To develop new therapies and effectively assess drug toxicity and transport, a biologically relevant, predictive, and easy-to-use in vitro BBB model is needed.
In this poster, we present a 3D microfluidic primary human brain microvascular endothelial cell (hBMEC) BBB model with relevant junction and transporter expression, low small molecule permeability, and suitability for high-throughput, on-chip TEER measurements.
